Chapter 5: Libya
In Libya, every day, young people are tortured, burned and electrocuted. They are starved, locked up in overcrowded sheds, and develop numerous diseases. At LIMBO, we reject the term "migrant", which denies the horror of these camps. We prefer the term "survivor". David spent 6 months in Libya. He never entirely came back.

WORSE THAN HELL
Text David
A journey like no other,
A path to hell, But worse than hell.
The only crime I committed,Is to flee from insecurity.
I have taken a path that leads me to hellOn Earth, without knowing it.
My life was so insecure,I preferred to go forward.
A journey like no other,
A path to hell, But worse than hell.
In the camp in Libya, I saw women being raped,
Men beaten to death,
Starving children.
I also saw corpses,
Thrown in the dustbin like chickens.
Men of 30
Who weighed 30 kilos.
In Libya, trafficking black people
Is like a market.
Like going to buy a goat.
But even the goats live better than us over there.
Because, it's worse than hell.
A journey like no other,
A path to hell, But worse than hell.
In the desert in Libya,
I saw 4x4s parked in the middle of nowhere,
Filled with corpses, dried out,
Like smoked fish, under the hot sand.
Those who travelled in the tank
Arrived at their destination
Dead, choked by petrol fumes.
And their only crime was to travel.
Alas, we all travel at some point in our lives.
So what did I do to deserve all this?
A journey like no other,
A path to hell,
But worse than hell.
My heart weeps,my soul bleeds,
It’s as if a part of me were dead.
When I think about all this torture,
When I see my brothers and I, in front of a stranger.
Our private parts invaded,
Women, like men.
My heart weeps,my soul bleeds.
For all those men fallen into total darkness,
In absolute silence,
Buried under the hot sand,
Under the rubbish in the camp,
Drowned, at the bottom of the sea.
All those whose identity is now just a number.
A journey like no other,
A path to hell, But worse than hell.
